BigDamnChristmasSpectacular

If this poster design doesn’t get you excited about a Christmas-theme rock show, there is something wrong with you. 4 Bands — headlined by Big Dammit — pepper their usual rocking sets with magical Christmas tunes while you enjoy milk & cookies, gifts and stuffed stockings from the bands, drunken carols, and, of course, a very special visit from Santa Claus himself! Event and ticket info here. See you there!

Big KRIT RLT Logo Project Process November 2nd, 2012

It may come as a surprise to some but we here at MAKE. are huge hip hop fans, like huge huge. For example, one of us can acapella rap the lyrics to Eminem’s ‘B. Rabbit v. Papa Doc’ (Abby) and the other listens to an unhealthy amount of hip hop (Jesse, I love the stuff). That being said, when we received word that we had the opportunity to do some logo design work for Big K.R.I.T., who has frequented our airwaves constantly for the past 2 years, we were elated to say the least! Below we will take you through some of the logo design process, show some of the presented concepts and disclose a bit about how the project panned out. Sadly, it wasn’t good.

Sorry, Charlie ‘Speak Well’ EP Album Art September 3rd, 2012

Enough cannot be said about Sorry, Charlie and his latest 3 song EP ‘Speak Well‘. Now, we might be a bit biased as he is the youngest of the Wynne tribe, but all bullshitting aside the kid has got some super skills with a guitar and a mic. Seriously, give it a listen. Collage art by Ms. Wynne and original logo design by Derek Sabiston (who is also mean with the music). Enjoy.

Big Dammit ‘Astro’ Album and Poster July 11th, 2012

Vinyl & silkscreen, living the dream! The guys from Big Dammit did their damn thing on this one. The “Astrodome/Astroworld” 7-inch, pressed on orange vinyl, is a 2 song record that tells the childhood story of the rise and eventual fall of its one-time ’8th wonder of the world’ namesake. Additionally, as some of you Chicagoans may have seen around town, the album art was re-worked into a sexy silkscreen poster to promote the release show at Ace Bar.

Evan EP February 28th, 2012

Remember the name ‘Evan Haughey’, some day he will become a household name. On the heels of the success his band Hero Jr.’s self-titled EP (seen here), Evan released his previously shelved, also self-titled solo EP. Although the music involves some very personal issues for Evan, it supplied some great inspiration and background for design. Take a closer look below.

Price 8 Records Preview October 31st, 2011

And you thought all we do is draw pretty pictures, SMH. Here is a preview of the site we’ve been working on for Mr. Kris Scott — of Big Dammit fame — and his newly founded record label Price8Records. Developing the brand and web presence was quite the process, with lots of dialogue about the positioning of P8R and loads of look/feel layouts. In the end we arrived at a site that has been ‘dropped, kicked and pushed down the stairs’, with an analog, wrinkled and roughed-up treatment that matches the DIY/indie attitude of the music. With the design/layout done and PSD’s off to the be developed we are eagerly awaiting the launch. More soon.
